Music

We are booking the best of the best. We have 13 slots to fill on our main stage and deer shed stage starting at midday going through to 11 at night. The mix will be eclectic for which we make no apologises.

The Wedding Present

We are delighted to welcome such a legendary band as The Wedding Present to headline the first Deer Shed Festival. After 18 Top 40 hits they are a band who are no less relevent today than they were at the conception of indie rock and now inspiring a new generation of indie kids with guitars. Don't miss what is likely to be one of very few festival appearences in the UK in 2010.

Track 1: Interstate 5   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Bewitched (starts quietly)   PLAY  STOP

Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara

Multi-award winning and infectious. When we put these guys on in Thirsk we had to for the first and only time move out all the tables and chairs at the interval to make way for people who insisted on dancing, it was an electric evening. Expect engaging desert blues from Robert Plant's main guitar man around tea time on the main stage.

Track 1: Kele Kele   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Gainako   PLAY  STOP

Young Rebel Set

Current darlings of the NME this seven piece from Stockon-on-tees have had a new genre created for them, graft rock. Weaving tales of dead-end jobs and broken relationships around anthemic songs that blend the band’s love of folk and punk, Young Rebel Set are conquering all in their path and are hotly tipped for 2010. Rachel in our office can't wait to meet them :)

Track 1: If I Was   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Walk On   PLAY  STOP

Blue Roses

Blue Roses AKA Laura Groves is a young singer songwriter from Shipley who caught our attention on the many BBC radio sessions we've heard her on. She will be performing with Lone Wolf on the Deer Shed stage so expect a magical acoustic collabration.

Track 1: I Am Leaving   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Greatest Thoughts   PLAY  STOP

Black Diamond Bay

First on the main stage are Black Diamond Bay. Their sound is beautifully crafted, epic, yet atmospheric and intimate - Massive Attack mixed up with Goldfrapp.

Track 1: I Dreamt We Were Bank Robbers   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Philharmonic Bubbles   PLAY  STOP

Paul Thomas Saunders

With influences such as Joe Meek and Leonard Cohen, 20 year old Paul Thomas Saunders fashions his own brand of alternative songs that often encompass his love of far out production

Track 1: The Death Of A Sports Personality   PLAY  STOP

Serious Sam Barret

Sam is fresh from representing Yorkshire at South By South West, Austin, Texas. His sound is being described as Yorkshirecana (Yorkshire meets Americana), a delicious blend of home grown folk tunes mixed up with bluegrass brilliance.

Track 1: Lay A White Rose   PLAY  STOP

Miles Hunt & Erica Nockalls of The Wonder Stuff

Miles and Erica join us hot off their UK Hup tour. We're anticipating much singing along to some Wonder Stuff classics in the up close setting of the Deer Shed stage headline slot just as the sun goes down...

Track 1: Unbearable   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Fill Her Up & Foot Down   PLAY  STOP

The Young Knives

Worth the wait, we present the Mercury Prize nominees The Young Knives. This 3 piece from Oxford confirming The Deer Shed Festival has put smiles on our faces that no political uncertainty can wipe off.

Track 1: The Decision   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Weekends and Bleak Days   PLAY  STOP

Danny And The Champions Of The World

Danny and The Champions of The World is not so much a band as a loose collective of artists who come together to create a unique country/soul/folk sound, blending spirited, pedal steel-scored Appalachian folk with gospel-tinged choruses, sun-drenched West Coast harmonies, deep soul and deft touches of psychedelia.

Track 1: The Truest Kind   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: I Still Believe   PLAY  STOP

Alessi's Ark

We saw Alessi support Laura Marling (no less) in York and were suitably impressed. Another artist at the Deer Shed Festival on the ultra hip Bella Union label and not yet out of her teens. We think you'll be suitably enchanted with Alessi and her band's brand of ethereal folk.

Track 1: The Horse   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Hummingbird   PLAY  STOP

Lone Wolf

Absolutely no coincidence this guy is signed to Bella Union, home of the Fleet Foxes. Much as we love the Foxes, this guy is perhaps even better, suffice to say we're made up to have him.

Track 1: Keep Your eyes On The Road   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Soldiers   PLAY  STOP

Groanbox

After bringing the house down and eating all our biscuits at our In The Dock show in Thirsk they are our most requested band to return. So we've booked them again, easy decision. Infectious, smokin' Americana with a tree stump and freedom boot. They'll also doing a freedom boot makin' workshop, save your beer tops! (and boots)

Track 1: Fences   PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Red Hook Revival   PLAY  STOP

Delta Maid

High tailing it up from a Friday night slot at Latitude we present Delta Maid, a young singer songwriter from Liverpool with a sound so authentically Mississippi it defies belief (but not in a Paolo Nutini way!) If you're into your Bessie Smith or Robert Johnson you are going fall in love with her lazy guitar style and voice. Cookin'.

Track 1: Don't Ever Let Nobody Drag Your
Spirit Down
PLAY  STOP
Track 2: Slow Down   PLAY  STOP
