Postponement of Deer Shed, new dates for Deer Shed 12 and exciting new Base Camp Plus - posted 21.04.2021

Hi Deer Shedders.

The bad news.

We have made the decision to postpone Deer Shed until 2022.

Many things remain uncertain for festivals this summer, but the lack of COVID cancellation insurance is the one hurdle we have been unable to clear. Earlier in the year, we were hopeful a government backed COVID insurance scheme would be in place, but we now have no reason to believe it will be despite frantic industry lobbying.

Deer Shed is still a 100% independent family owned and run festival, and the risks of running without insurance leave Kate and myself financially exposed well beyond our comfort zone.

We will of course offer ticket refunds for Deer Shed 11 or rollovers to Deer Shed 12. We really appreciate those of you who will again be able to support us by rolling over your tickets to 2022. Full details in the FAQs below.

The good news.

Within our comfort zone we are going to run a smaller event, Base Camp Plus. Along the same lines as last year's hugely successful Base Camp, but with extra bits, on the July 30th - August 1st weekend 2021.

A safe camping weekend in Baldersby Park, with plenty of space, loads of camping options including your own loo, park next to your pitch, book next to your mates, bring the dog...

Plus live music & comedy performances (at last!), food, drink, partying, campfires, workshops, theatre, well-being, swingballs and anything else we dream up. (Of course the plus does rely upon continued progress in the unlocking roadmap).

We will have more details in the coming weeks, space is limited so register your interest here and be first in line when we release tickets.

Why has Deer Shed Festival been postponed?

Deer Shed has been postponed due to the current lack of any viable event insurance options.

When will the next Deer Shed take place?

Deer Shed Festival 12 will take place on the 29th - 31st July weekend 2022.

I have tickets for Deer Shed 11, what are my options?

You have 2 options.

  • Rollover your tickets to Deer Shed 12 in 2022. We hope you can support Deer Shed by choosing this option.
  • Request a ticket refund.

Why should I keep hold of my tickets?

Here are some benefits of keeping hold of your tickets and attending in 2022.

  • Deer Shed is still a fully independent, family-owned cultural event in the North of England, and you will be continuing to support us through an extended period of uncertainty for the sector.
  • Due to the tiering of ticket prices, the tickets you currently hold are cheaper than any you will be able to buy for Deer Shed Festival 12 later down the line.
  • If you can't make the 2022 dates, we can provide you with a voucher to 2023.

Will the line-up for the postponed event remain the same?

No. After carrying the line-up over once before, we feel a fresh start for 2022 is necessary, particularly with some fantastic recent additions to the Deer Shed music and arts booking team.

We know many of you were looking forward to seeing the acts billed at Deer Shed Festival 11, but we strongly believe this is the best option for facilitating the most exciting line-up possible next year.

I have decided to keep hold of my Deer Shed 11 tickets, what do I need to do?

Firstly, thank you for supporting us in this way. COVID-19 has put businesses and individuals under a great deal of financial pressure, we really appreciate your continued support.

Regarding your tickets you don't need to do anything. All ticket types bought through Eventbrite & Ticketsellers (including caravans/campervans/hookups) will remain valid for Deer Shed Festival 12 in 2022. We look forward to seeing you then!

If you hold Ticketsellers Payment Plan tickets any remaining payments will be made as scheduled if you decide to rollover tickets to 2022.

Do I need to upgrade my kids tickets if, being a year older, they need a different child ticket type?

No. For existing ticket holders, it is the age that your kids would have been at the time of the original July 2020 dates – or the 2021 dates, if you purchased them after last year’s postponement announcement – that is important.

I have booked tickets with a glamping supplier, what happens to them?

All glamping bookings will be valid for Deer Shed Festival 12 in 2022 should you decide to attend. Otherwise, you can request a refund direct from the glamping supplier.

However, if we run Base Camp Plus our suppliers are happy for you to use your booking for this event.

I have booked trolley hire with Gogo trolley, what about this booking?

All payments to Gogo trolley will be refunded. For 2022 we intend to use a new payment provider.

All things considered I would like to request the refund of my Deer Shed Festival 11 tickets. How do I go about it?

We understand this and hope to see you in Baldersby Park at some point in the future!

If you hold Eventbrite tickets to request a refund please login to your Eventbrite account, locate your Deer Shed 11 tickets and on that page click on the "Contact The Organiser" button to send us your request.

If you hold Ticketseller payment plan tickets to request a refund please login to your Ticketseller account and click on the Refunds and Rollovers section to find guidance.

If you would like a refund, we ask that you make this request by April 29th 2021. If a refund request is not made by this date, your tickets will be rolled over to 2022. Deer Shed will be unable to grant refunds beyond this date.

We will try to process your request within 30 days of the refund deadline.

How long do I have to decide if I want a refund?

The deadline for refund requests is April 29th 2021.

I have requested a refund, when will I receive the funds?

We hope to have all refund requests processed by May 31st 2021. Please allow additional time for the funds to reach your account.

I/we were due to volunteer at Deer Shed 12. What happens now?

If you do not wish to attend or volunteer in 2022, then please reply to the Eventbrite email and request a refund if you bought a volunteer ticket. However, if you would still like to volunteer, we will require confirmation that you intend to rollover your shifts and tickets to 2022. You will receive an email from us very soon informing you how to do this.

I am an ambassador for Deer Shed 11. How does the postponement affect me?

The ambassador scheme will continue running until July 2022 giving you more time to encourage your friends and family to visit Deer Shed. Tickets that you have already sold will be valid for 2022 or they can be refunded. We would ask you to help support Deer Shed by encouraging your ticket buyers to keep hold of their tickets until 2022. Please direct any questions to admin@deershedfestival.com.

I have a Personal Assistant (PA) ticket for Deer Shed Festival 11. How does the postponement affect me?

Your PA ticket is still valid for the rescheduled event. Please email admin@deershedfestival.com if you can no longer attend.
