Volunteering at Deer Shed

Deer Shed Festival volunteers play an important part in creating our special festival feeling; from stewarding and ticketing to workshop activities and science tent support - there are lots of ways you can get involved to help us create a fantastic weekend for all!

As a volunteer, you’ll get a taste of how a festival operates behind-the-scenes, and whether you volunteer solo or with your family and friends, you’ll meet new people and learn new skills.

If you’re over 18, you can sign up to be a volunteer.

We love seeing our returning volunteers, as well welcoming new faces each year – and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t got any previous volunteer experience, we’re just looking for anyone helpful, hardworking and reliable. If this sounds like a bit of you, please read on...

  • You will be required to work 8 hours, either in one full shift or spilt into 2 x 4-hour shifts (this is A LOT LESS than most festivals require, as we want you to have plenty of quality time with friends and family, or to do some solo exploring)
  • In return for your volunteering, you will be able to attend Deer Shed for the price of a small non-refundable joining fee (£30) – that’s a pretty good deal!

Information for all volunteers (returning & new):

  • Please do not purchase a weekend ticket via the website; volunteer tickets are arranged separately via email. If you’ve already purchased a standard ticket, please let us know on your form.
  • To volunteer you must be 18 or older when you arrive on site.
  • You are not able to complete your shifts with your children present – you must have childcare during your shift times.
  • All volunteers, returning and new, are required to pay a non-refundable joining fee. This covers your registration and provides a commitment to volunteering with us.
  • Please complete the volunteer form, you will then receive an email with a link to purchase a joining fee. Once paid, your volunteer place is secured.
  • We will be processing applications in 2025; a member of the team will be in touch after Christmas. Shifts will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (so anyone applying in September will be allocated shifts first and will be more likely to get their first preference of shifts).
  • As a volunteer you still need to purchase additional tickets for your parking, family, campervan, caravan or trailer tent. Camping in a tent is, as always, free of charge.

New Volunteers:

If you are a new volunteer, you will be required to pay a non-refundable admin fee of £30 and a volunteer deposit ticket for £130 which is refunded to you post-festival on the successful completion of your shifts. You will receive a link for your non-refundable joining fee once you’ve completed application form. We will then send you a link for your deposit ticket in the new year.

Already purchased a standard ticket? Don’t fret!

If you have already purchased a standard ticket and would like to volunteer, we will arrange for you to purchase a volunteer deposit ticket and then refund your standard ticket. Once the festival is over and you’ve completed your shifts, we will refund your volunteer ticket.
