Whilst Welly has been on our radar for a while and we'd heard that their live shows were a riot, we didn't realise just how amazing they were live until we saw them in Brighton this year.

The 5-piece band's (led by frontman Welly) debut album released in March showcases songs that are about things we all know well - wanting more than we’ve got, insecurity, cold feet, young drunkenness, jealousy, sickly sweet love, regret and uncertainty. Welly’s songwriting is journalistic, telling the world what he sees out of his window, over a disco-punk beat.

It’s now evolving into a life where Welly gets to heckle audiences all over the country, get sweaty with dance fever in venues, blasting out his idiosyncratic but relatable tales of existence, and share his pinpoint commentary on everyday life, all wrapped up in a duvet of familiarity and fun making that will make you feel part of his tales and most importantly, part of the gang. Just like all the very best pop music has the power to do. We definitely agree, this is one not to miss!
