Trying to describe Fat Dog is a bit like trying to explain a dream you had after too much cheese: chaotic, hilarious, extremely intense, and yet somehow it all makes perfect sense when you’re in the middle of it. The South London collective have quickly become one of the most talked-about new live acts in the country, thanks to their unholy fusion of punk ferocity, rave energy, theatrical absurdism, and whatever else they feel like throwing into the cauldron that night.
Their shows don’t so much “start” as erupt—costumes, synth lines, barking vocals, pounding rhythms, and a crowd that usually ends up dancing like they’ve joined some joyous, slightly feral cult. It’s delirious, it’s ridiculous, it’s brilliant, and it’s all delivered with a wink that says: yes, we know exactly what we’re doing.
Fat Dog are the kind of band people come home raving about, half-gasping that they’ve just seen The Future (or at least a very sweaty version of it). We cannot wait to welcome them back to Deer Shed. Bring an open mind, sturdy footwear, and a willingness to be swept up in the madness.
