Madra Salach come from Dublin, but there’s something deliberately unurban about the way their music moves. Formed by friends playing in pubs and small rooms across the city, the band grew from a shared love of traditional Irish forms and curiosity about how far those forms could stretch without breaking.

Drone sits at the heart of their sound. Harmoniums hum, strings circle insistently, and rhythms emerge slowly through accumulation rather than drive, giving the music a ritualistic and immersive quality. Part of a new wave of Irish experimental folk, Madra Salach create performances that feel patient, intense and completely absorbing. Live, the drone elements come into their own, filling spaces and pulling listeners into a shared headspace.
